Julie Cheatham began her legal career in Chicago in 1999 and has defended 27 jury trials throughout Cook and the surrounding counties of Illinois. While her practice has focused primarily on nursing home litigation, her experience extends to medical malpractice, professional liability defense, construction negligence and construction defect cases, premises liability defense, products liability and wrongful death claims. Ms. Cheatham has represented corporations and professionals, counseled clients on employment issues, licensing requirements and regulatory hearings. Prior to joining Hamlin & Burton, Ms. Cheatham was the Vice President of Risk Management/In-House Counsel for a long-term care consulting company, supporting operations at 35 long-term care and assisted living facilities across five midwestern states. Ms. Cheatham received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from DePaul University, Chicago and her Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
